State Address
Arizona's Governor talks to students during a receptionOn January 21, students from UHS' AP U.S. Government class attended Governor Katie Hobbs’ 2026 State Address at the Tucson Convention Center. The students also participated in an exclusive student reception with Governor Hobbs prior to the main program.

Students represented TUSD alongside peers from other districts, asked thoughtful questions, interacted with elected officials and community leaders, and gained firsthand exposure to civic leadership and public service. The experience was highly engaging and meaningful for the students.

A special shoutout to UHS senior Evan Yin, who captured the individual state championship—an incredible accomplishment after finishing 2nd last year! UHS teammates also excelled, with Jerrick Zhang (5th), Elise Yin (7th), and Ben Cloud (4th Place Alternate) all medaling.

Great job to Jayden Yao, Robert Visco, Elise Yin, Jerrick Zhang, and Evan Yin for representing UHS with pride.
