Future Focused Meetings & ECAP
At UHS our students are Future Focused!

Education Career Action Plan (ECAP)
In an effort to ensure that all Arizona students receive assistance with planning for a post-secondary education and careers, the Arizona Department of Education requires that all students create an Education Career Action Plan (ECAP). The goal of an ECAP is to guide students through an exploration and planning process to ensure a seamless transition from high school graduation to their chosen post-secondary pathway. The process involves self-exploration, career-exploration, and career planning and management activities, in which students learn about themselves and the post-secondary options available to them. Tucson Unified School District uses the Arizona Career Information System (AZCIS) as a way to manage an electronic ECAP portfolio for each student. *As of May 2020, the Arizona Department of Education will not be renewing their subscription to the AZCIS system. UHS will update this page by Fall 2020 with our new process & system for completing ECAPs.

Future Focused Meetings
To complete these requirements, UHS students are required to attend Future Focused Meetings, where they engage in a series of in-person & online (ECAP portfolio) activities, conversations, and reflections to guide them in planning for college & careers. Future Focused meetings will take place primarily during conference periods. Students are assigned a Conference Period date to attend based upon their English teacher & period. It is an expectation that students show up on time at 8:00am and stay for the entire conference period.

*As of May 2020, the Arizona Department of Education will not be renewing their subscription to the AZCIS system. UHS will update this page by Fall 2020 with our new process & system for completing ECAPs. If students have a resume that they've started in their current ECAP account that they would like to download, they MUST do so by June 30th, 2020 or all work will be lost. Instructions on how to save & download your resume.

Although students primarily work on their portfolio during their Future Focused Meetings; students are able to log on to their ECAP Portfolio from anywhere and are encouraged to work on it individually, with a parent, and/or with a counselor. Keeping an up-to-date portfolio, especially the resume, is key to being prepared for the college application process.
